El Salvador's first sugar shipment is one of the factors explaining this increase, said Claudia Rodríguez, Economy Ministry spokesperson.
During the first six months of 2013 foreign sales totaled $2.822 billion, $151 million more than in the same period in 2012.
In the first three months of 2011 sales totaled $27.6 million, compared to $1.9 million in the same period in 2010.
EXPORTA attributes the increase to the free trade agreement with the island, which has been in effect for 7 months as yesterday.
In the first two months of 2012, total exports reached $1,710 million, which is 10.5% more than in the same period in 2011.
