The ratification of the FTA "will strengthen trade, and at the same time will allow a greater flow of investment between El Salvador and Colombia," the Salvadoran Minister of Economy, Richard Esmahan, believes.
The Guatemalan Congress ratified the FTA that the country, along with El Salvador and Honduras, negotiated and signed with Colombia in August 2007.
An error in the final ratification text of the Free Trade Agreement with Colombia requires it to return to Congress for amendment.
Ruben Morales, Guatemalan Economy Minister, confirmed the Free Trade Agreement will come into effect on November 13th.
The Free Trade Agreement between both countries has been in effect since last Saturday.
