Sale of home appliances drop in Guatemala

As of november this year, the country imported $162.56 million in home appliances, $3.5 milion lest than the same period in 2007.

Central America: Imports of Household Appliances Down 7%

In 2016 the countries in region imported $167 million worth of appliances, 7% less than in the previous year, and 50% of the products came from China.

Nicaragua: Sales of Appliances Also Growing

The import of goods for home use grew by 18% in November 2015, thanks to factors such as the drop in fuel prices and the increase in remittances.

The value of household articles also recorded double-digit growth (10.9%), going from $143.7 million purchased between January 1 and November 30, 2014, to $159.3 million in the same period in 2015, according to the Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN).

Nicaragua: Import of Appliances Up 21%

Increased access to credit in 2014 boosted imports of appliances such as refrigerators, televisions and washing machines, which totaled $121 million, 21% more than in the previous year.

Greater access to credit both through banks and trading companies selling the appliances is the main reason for the sharp increase in imports of these products.

Electrical Appliance Stores Stop Expansion in Costa Rica

The big electrical appliance chains do not foresee opening any new stores this year.

The Gollo chain with 104 stores and M Group with 180 will focus this year on consolidating the outlets that they already have.
