Panamanian Metro Route Could be Extended

The Metro Secretary does not rule out extending the first route of the metro system up to San Isidro.

Such was the response of Metro Secretary Roberto Roy, when asked about a potential extension of the route by some interested companies. He added that the topic will be studied with the Economy ministry.

"'The metro could be extended up to San Isidro - I would personally like it that way - but there are budget restrictions, and we need to consult with the Economy and Finance ministry' he said. However, he explained that bidding will be done using the current design, the one which extends up to Los Andes", reported Prensa.com.

Line Two of Panama Metro

Authorities will analyze the possibility of extending the first line of the upcoming metro system up to the area known as “San Isidro”.

The current public acquisition process for the metro, which is well underway, comprises building the first line from Albrook up to Los Andes.

Panama Modifies Bidding Rules for Metro

The Metro Secretary announced that the updated bidding rules can be downloaded from PanamaCompra since yesterday.

These modifications were included by request of some of the companies interested in developing the Metro System of Panama City.

Roberto Roy, Metro Secretary, was quoted in Prensa.com: “we modified the rules to ease the liquidity and indebtedness ratios … we reduced the importance given to local experience, from 13 to 8, out of a total 130 points”.
