There continues to be a high export demand for Thailand. Vietnam, one step below.
According to data from the Rice Exporters Association, Thailand expects to exceed 9 million tons of rice in 2014, exporting around 700 to 800,000 tons per month. The key factor of this great expectation is great demand from Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, coupled with the low prices from Thailand compared to their Asian competitors.

Vietnam maintains exports and prices are the biggest unknown.
Although there were minimal percentage drops, Vietnamese exports stood until July at 4.44 million tons of rice. China remains the leader in purchases. Philippines second, who will cause in the next purchase an increase in the prices from Vietnam.

Private banks in Nicaragua will be granting loans to the agricultural sector in order to address the consequences of the drought across Central America.

$383 million in will be awarded loans. Juan Carlos Argüello, president of the Association of Private Banks of Nicaragua (Asobanp) stated that the agreement was made during a meeting with officials from the Central Bank to assess the impact that the lack of rain will have on production and the country's food supply.
