The restoration or demolition of old building in the city center is on of the topics on the agenda of the "San Salvador in the XXI Century" forum being organized by Cades.

Leon Sol, a member of the College of Architects of El Salvador (Cades) explained that "currently there are building that have no functional nor architectural value, hence they should give the opportunity to business centers, (however) Concultura is blocking the initiatives.
The properties in downtown are regulated by the Law of Protection of Cultural Patrimony and by municipal ordinance for historic patrimony; both are similar regarding repairs, restoration, demolition or use of these building. It is the responsibility of Concultura and the municipality to ensure that the law is fulfilled.
