Remittances to Honduras Increase 18%

The Institute for Migratory Policies reported an increase in remittances from the U.S., starting July.

According to analysts, such increase would be directly related to the political crisis experienced in the country after the coup d'état. reports: "Carlos Pereira, executive director of the Center for Immigrant Orientation (CODI), explained that his organization has launched a campaign exhorting Hondurans living in the U.S. to increase remittances to their country".

October Record Month For Remittances to Guatemala

November 2013

Last October, the country received $480 million in remittances, mainly from the U.S.

Data provided by the Bank of Guatemala (Banguat) shows that the difference was $65 million. When compared with the revenue from September, growth was 14.11% as at that time $420.68 million was reported.

Remittances to Guatemala Up 10%

During the first seven months of 2013, remittances to Guatemala totalled $2,924 million, $142 million more than in the same period in 2012. reports: "Last July, the receipt of remittances was $445.7 million, which means an increase of 5.6%, or $24 million more compared to July 2012 ($422 million) ...".

Guatemala: Remittances Grow by 9%

In the first six months of the year more than $2,000 million came into the country from abroad.

Remittances sent by Guatemalan families living abroad have increased by 9.3% compared to the first half of 2010.

The highest figures were recorded for June, with more than $416 million flowing into the country via this route, according to the Central Bank of Guatemala (Banguat).
