Remittances from Salvadorans living abroad during the month of August 2013, totaled $326.6 million, up by $11.2 million and recording a growth rate of 3.5% compared to the same month last year, reported the department of Studies and Economic Statistics at the Central Reserve Bank.
During the period January to August 2013, a total of $2.6163 billion came into the country , which is 1.0% more, equivalent to $25.6 million, than in the same period last year, the source added.

During the month of September, the country received $315.4 million in remittances, $12.7 million more than in the same period in 2012.

Salvadorans living abroad sent remittances worth $2.9317 billion in the period between January and September 2013, an increase of $38.4 million, equivalent to a growth rate of 1.3% annually.
Remittance income in August 2011 has reported a 4.8% increase compared to the same period in 2010.
According to statistics from the Central Reserve Bank, remittances received in the month of August, totalled $ 307 million, and were higher than those recorded in the same month in the last three years.
Until November the amount of remittances received totaled $ 273.2 million, 4% above the same period of 2009.
According to the Reserve Bank the monthly average received this year was $ 290.6 million, up from $ 184.4 million of the monthly average of 2009.
"As reported by the BCR, the situation of remittances in Latin America has generally improved this year, compared with the balance of 2009", reported Laprensagrafica.com.
Remittances from Salvadorans in the US continue to be significant and as of August was at a total of $2.6 million.
According to reports from the Central Reserve Bank (BCR), this figure is $121.1 million more than the earnings for the same period in 2007.
Last month, the total income was $305.7 million, a drop when compared to the same month in 2007 when the amount received was $312.2.
