Red Fox invests $11 million in El Salvador

The company, which exports ornamental plants, built five greenhouses measuring 1.8 hectares each, with a capacity for 1.6 million plants.

Elsalvador.com reports: "The firm is located at kilometer 66.5 on the highway to Los Naranjos, in the city of Santa Ana.

In addition to the five greenhouses, which provide a total production surface of 92,000 square meters, they also have a built an industrial building that provides office space, and that is used to disinfect recycled water, for supplies, cold storage, and other infrastructure need to send first class products to the United States, Canada and parts of Europe. The total production surface will be four time more than the current one, that is, 400,000 m2.

Nicaragua Begins Export of Ornamental Plants

With an investment of $8 million the U.S. company Ball Flora Plant has started exports of cuttings from its production plant in Las Limas, in Estelí.

Mario Pichardo, managing director of the company, said, "This is the company’s most ambitious project. Nowadays it is believed that Las Limas is the most modern production center in the world in the production industry of ornamental plant cuttings."

El Salvador Exports $14 million in Ornamental Plants

The country, the second largest exporter of ornamental plants in the region, up to July has made sales abroad totalling $14.1 million, a 4.56% increase compared to the same period in 2011.

According to information from the Agency for Promotion of Exports and Investments of El Salvador (Proesa), in 2011 exports exceeded $17.9 million, an increase of 42% over the past five years.

The company, Red Fox, an exporter of ornamental plants, has doubled its production area and quadrupled its exports in the last two years.

The company is continuing with its expansion plans and hopes in the next few years to augment its production area from 20 to 40 hectares and increase its annual export to 200 million cuttings, said the company's general manager, Simon Schulz.

The factory will be built in Estelí, where other relevant investments are being made.

Estelí province is becoming increasing appealing to investors who are opting to establish factories and free zones there.

One example is the investment of $15 million to be made by a group of U.S. investors in a free zone for the production of ornamental plants.
