Recycling Industry in Panama

The recycling industry in Panama reported, up to November 2012, more than $75 million in exports of waste products such as aluminum, iron and copper.

"In Panama, up to the end of November 2012, exports of scrap aluminum, iron and copper, among other materials, totaled $75,098,028, according to the Comptroller General of the Republic", noted an article in Panamaamerica.com.pa.

During 2012, scrap iron and steel generated gains of $28,516,928, with the materials being exported to countries like China, the UAE and Thailand, among others.

In addition, the figures from the Comptroller revealed that aluminum exports generated $15,484,962, which was exported to India, Japan, China, etc.

Regarding scrap copper its exportation was reported to countries such as Brazil, Spain, India, China, South Korea reporting revenues of $3,497,469.
