Firms Selling Medicines to Central America

Reprico, Labymed, J.J. Cohen, Novartis and Nipro Medical Corporation are some of the firms supplying medicines to public health institutions in the region.

Figures from the information system, "Public Purchases in the Health Sector" developed by the Trade Intelligence area of CentralAmericaData, details the list of companies favored with contracts to provide pharmaceutical products and medical supplies in tenders published between July 2017 and June 2018, by the several Ministries of Health and Social Security of Central American countries.

In Panama, Reprico, S.A., Corporacion Impa Doel and Promocion Medica S.A. are three of the main suppliers of pharmaceutical products to the Ministry of Health for the months in question. In the case of the Social Security Fund, it is reported that Quimifar and Promoción Médica are suppliers that have registered contracts to distribute medical supplies.

In Guatemala, Labymed, Bodega Farmaceutica S.A. and AbbottLaboratorios S.A. were among the most favored firms with contracts from the Ministry of Health. J.J. Cohen S.A., Medicina Corporativa de Dialisis S.A. and Compañia Farmaceutica Lanquetin S.A., recorded the main contract awards of the Guatemalan Institute of Social Security.

In Costa Rica, the Social Security Fund reported that among its main suppliers of medical products are NovartisPharma Logistics, Distribuidora Farmanova and Abbvie S.A.

In El Salvador, the main providers of government institutions in the health sector for the period in question were Nipro Medical Corporation, Droguería Herlett S.A., Siemens Helthcare S.A. and Surtimedic S.A. In Honduras, Distribuidora de Productos para Diagnostico y Droguería and Distribuidora Médica S. de R.L. are reported as suppliers of health entities.
