Works at the $94 million Curundú project are at 25%.

The Minister of Housing and Land, Carlos Duboy, said that by mid-month 160 homes are scheduled to be completed, which will add to the existing 160.

"Also there is progress in cleaning up the Curundú river, especially in the area where classrooms are built to train staff working at the project and other work for the road structure and drainage systems,” reports the article in La Estrella .

Brazilian company "Constructora Norberto Odebrecht" won a $94 million contract to develop the infrastructure project.

The evaluation committee awarded the best score to Odebrecht, before the other two pre-qualified companies: Meco S.A. and Constructora Urbana S.A. (Cusa).

Three Companies Bid $95 Million for Curundú Project

Meco, Oderbrecht and Cusa are the three companies still in contention for developing the urban infrastructure project.

All three of them proposed costs around $95 million, from Cusa's bid at $94.933.650 to Meco's at $95.397.750.

According to Prensa.com, "Proyecto Curundú" comprises transforming some 160.000 square meters in the locality of the same name.

Panama: Curundú Project Attracts Companies

Interested companies from 6 countries will visit the project's location on November 26.

Carlos Duboy, Housing Minister, commented that companies from Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Spain and Italy have expressed interest in the project.

"It comprises an urban transformation for 160.000 square meters, over one thousand meters of sidewalks and segregated cycle facilities, institutional buildings, recreational and sport facilities, parks, libraries, as well as working on the Curundú river to prevent flooding", reports Prensa.com.
