Prices rise in El Salvador
Over the past five years, the basic basket of consumer goods has risen by 42 dollars, or 67.5 percent, but just in the past year it has gone up by 28 dollars.

In May 2003, the cost of the basket was 124.56 dollars, while in 2007 it was 138.21 dollars. This May the price was 166.56.
The price of the basic food basket in urban zones of El Salvador jumped by 6.27 dollars in June. In rural areas the increase was 4.08 dollars.
The mechanism for measuring prices will include a greater focus on those products that carry more weight in household expenses and a reduction of the importance of the weight of the others.
DIGESTYC indicates that despite an inflation of 9.9% in August (0.03% higher than the 9.6% in July) the rising trend in price of the Basic Food Basket was detained.
The monthly cost of the Basic Family Food Basket (CBFA) increased in August by 1.5% in comparison to July.
