The Ministry of Transport has launched a consultation with maritime transport companies and airlines in order to find out their priorities and requirements so as to develop a national policy for the sectors.

"One of the problems that our country faces is that transport policies have never been intergrated," said Nelson Garcia, Deputy Transport Minister in Laprensagrafica.com review.

Roberto Mena, a consultant for the project, explained that shipping companies operations in the country have centered around transporting cargo to abroad when there are niche opportunities in the cruise industry that would boost tourism. Similarly, air carriers have usually specialized in transporting passengers, having the opportunity to develop freight transport, giving added value to the sector, said Mena.
