Pinturas Volcan Invests $ 3 million in Guatemala

The company invested in a new production line and a regional distribution center.

Pinturas Volcan, a division of Duwest Group, will serve the Central American market from its new regional distribution center.

Leonel Rodriguez, director of operations at Duwest, told El Periodico that "... production capacity increased between 50 to 70 percent, which means about 4 million 350 thousand gallons of paint per year for the architectural, automotive and industrial segments" making it one of the largest companies of its kind in Central America."

Solid Group Negotiates Loan with IFC for Paint Factory

Solid Group signed a $10 million loan with the International Finance Corporation to build a paint factory in Guatemala.

The future plant will be located in Escuintla and will start operations next year. Requiring a total investment of $16 million, it will be the largest of its kind in Central America.

The Colombian company has announced plans to expand its paints division, Pintuco, in Central America.

The firm's president, Ernesto Fajardo, announced the Central American expansion plans, which include negotiations for the construction of a paint manufacturing factory that could be located in Guatemala, Costa Rica or El Salvador.
