This was one of the findings of a study by Costa Rica's exports promotion agency, which pointed out opportunities for Costa Rican as well as regional exporting companies.
"Some companies are already taking advantage of the South American country's market. They are well positioned brands, mainly in the food, construction products and metals sectors", reported Nacion.com. "Emmanuel Hess, Procomer's General Manager, considers that Peru could become a central axis of a Costa Rican strategy for entering Andean Community countries."
Authorities in charge of foreign trade say that "a lot of creativity" will be needed to increase sales.

The paper's main objective is to make a detailed compilation of statistics on Costa Rica’s foreign trade in 2011 with the purpose of analyzing the behavior of Costa Rican exports as well as performance according to the main variables of interest.
