Panama's Historic City Hall Budget

With $115 million, Panama City will have for next year, the largest budget in its history.

For the first time the town of Panama City will have available $115 million for investment and maintenance works during 2012.

The budget, which is $23 million more than that of 2011, includes improvements to parks, renovation works at the Marañón gym, and the creation of a television channel, among other things.

Although some council members believe that the budget is too high, the council as a whole voted it in with a large majority. .

In an article in prensa.com, Council President, Carlos Perez Herrera, said that "the municipal television channel will be regulated to prevent its use for political purposes."

Guatemalan Congress Approves 2012 Budget

Congress has passed the General Budget of Revenues and Expenditures of State for Fiscal Year 2012, amounting to $7,624 million.

A press release by the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala reads:

With 100 votes and the opposition of the National Unity of Hope and Renewed Democratic Freedom bench, the House of Congress approved Decree 33-2011, which approves the General Budget of Revenues and Expenditures of State for Fiscal Year 2012, amounting to 59, 547 million quetzals ($ 7,624 million), 70 % of which is to be funded from income tax, as well as the placement of treasury bonds amounting to 7,500 million quetzals ($ 960 million).

Panama: $ 10 Million for Sewer

February 2011

MOP is coordinating construction of the second phase of the sewerage for the city of Aguadulce.

The project, valued at more than $ 10 million, involves the Ministry of Public Works (MOP), the Institute of Aqueducts and Sewage Systems and the National Council for Sustainable Development.
