Panama to host the Forum on Competition in Latin America

The Forum on Competition in Latin America will be held in the City of Panama from the 10 to 11 of September.

President Martin Torrijos will participate in the event and will give the welcome to the representatives of the competition agencies from the various countries in the region and from other continents.

Panama will officially become, in the month of April 2014, the host country of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum on Latin America which brings together more than 600 business people, plus industry leaders, said President Ricardo Martinelli on Wednesday Jan. 23 during his participation in the economic meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

Panamanian business persons and some 100 American companies will take part in the "Panama-United States" Forum on September 16 and 17.

The event will be held in Washington and will have the participation of companies such as Caterpillar, Hewlett Packard, Procter & Gamble, 3M and Dell who will give testimonies about their operations in the country.

Panama is preparing to host the Latin American and Ibero-American competition forums.

The forums, which are to be coordinated by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), are to be held from September 10 through 12, said Pedro Meilán, who heads Panama's watchdog on competition and consumer affairs.
