Panama: $ 5 Million to Restore University

The maintenance and restoration work will take place at the Centro Regional Universitario de Colón (CRUC).

Works beginning in the coming months include restoration of fifteen different faculty buildings, the Manuel F. Zárate and Victoria Jiménez auditoriums and the pool, according to the Governor of Colon, Pedro Ríos.

"The restoration of the Victoria Jiménez auditorium will be executed through local government, with funding provided by the Colon Free Zone. The rest of the funds will come from the University of Panama," reported Prensa.com.

Tender: University Buildings for $9 million

The Ministry of the Presidency in Panama is putting out to tender the remodeling and adaptation of the Regional University Center of Colón.

Panama Government Purchase 2018-0-03-0-03-LV-030894:  

"The project includes the required studies, development of construction plans (including technical specifications), approval of plans, obtaining permits, payments of any applicable tax, as well as construction of the work, according to what is defined in the request for proposals document, including but not limited to: all civil works, demolitions, roof structure replacement, replacement of windows and doors, general finishes, sanitary services, landscaping, pool area. As well as delivery of the "as-built" plans.   

Construction Projects Planned in Central America

A water treatment system in Panama, office buildings in Costa Rica and a university building in Guatemala are some of the projects that are expected to be developed in the coming months in the region.

The interactive platform "Construction in Central America", compiled by the Business Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData, includes an up to date list of public and private construction projects for which environmental impact studies (EIA) were submitted to the respective institutions of each country in August 2017.

The modernization of the Universidad Interamericana is one of the major projects of the Laureate International Universities network in the region, which the university belongs to.

Honduras Builds $2 Million University Complex

Construction of the first phase of the Regional University Center of Progreso starts next week.

The project comprises two three-storey buildings, featuring a combined 80 classrooms.

Alexander López, major of the municipality of El Progreso, told Laprensa.hn that “the project will benefit several thousand students that travel to San Pedro Sula to receive tertiary education”.
