Panama: $ 35 Million Investment in Old Quarters

The Ministry of Works will invite bids for a project to improve the area known as "Casco Antiguo"; investment is estimated at $ 35 million.

The works include, as reported by Prensa.com, the "burial of cables, recovery of sewer system, repairing streets and sidewalks, construction of parking for a minimum of 100 vehicles and lighting".

The project undertaken by the Ministry is added to the one from the Office of the Casco Antiguo (OCA) which comprises of park illumination, sidewalk repair and installation of a tourism information center.

Panama City To Invite Bids for Street Renewal

The Municipality is going to put out to tender the renewal of the streets ‘Via Argentina’ and ‘Calle Uruguay’.

Without putting an exact figure on the amount to be invested, predictions are in the region of $20 million for Via Argentina and $10 million for Calle Uruguay.

The project includes installing underground cables for lighting and telecommunications, expanding the sidewalks and changing the street furniture.

$34 million for Road Realignment Works

The National Assembly of Panama has approved a transfer of $34,059,053 million for starting to address the payment of road realignment projects.

Members of the Budget Committee have approved a transfer to the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) of 34,059,053 million dollars in order to pay for road realignment projects.

Costa Rica: $12 million Roadworks

December 2015

The Ministry of Public Works will invest $12 million on building extra lanes, changing roads and traffic lights in areas of the metropolitan area with high road congestion.

The works aim to minimize traffic congestion problems in 22 areas where there is the most road congestion in the greater metropolitan area, and according to officials from the Ministry of Public Works (MOPT), this plan of "fast works" will start in the second half 2016.

El Salvador Awards Roadwork Contracts

February 2011

Authorities awarded $11.2 million in 20 road maintenance contracts for unpaved roads.

A total 3.087,64 kilometers of road will be repaired and companies must start working as soon as possible.

FOVIAL explained that these works are part of the required yearly road maintenance, necessary to ensure an adequate useful life of network.
