Panama: $ 200 Million Infrastructure Project

On March 21st the Government will tender the modernization of the Master Plan which will include a project to create three new landfills at the Bay of Panama.

The project includes landfills at Avenida de los Poetas (in Chorrillo), another one in front of the Frank Gehry Museum and the third one at Naos Island where they would build a marina and a dock. For construction of the landfills material from the Canal expansion will be used.

The article in Prensa.com states that the modernization of the Master Plan includes new land use and financing. An inter-institutional committee which currently works on the project is examining potential sources of funding, like the transfer of resources from other public institutions and private partnerships."

Construction Begins on Panama Sea Bridge

As part of the Master Plan of Road Reorganization in Panama City, construction has began on the interconnection between Avenida Balboa and the new Avenida Los Poetas.

$1.5 billion Investment in Road Infrastructure

The president of Guatemala has announced a master infrastructure program for the construction and expansion of roads and bridges.

President Otto Perez Molina announced the launch of several major infrastructure projects, among which are two roads: one from port to port (from Santo Tomas de Castilla, Izabal, to Quetzal, Escuintla) and one border to border (from Mexico to El Salvador).

El Salvador Launches Road Rescue Plan

In a press release, the Ministry of Public Works announced the start of an Intensive Road Rescue Plan to repair roads damaged by the recent rains.

The Plan aims to patch and resurface the road infrastructure, which has suffered severe damage from the biggest climatic event of the last 30 years, thus preventing injuries to the motorists and pedestrians using these roads.
