Panama: Vehicles Imports in January 2017

During the first month of the year 4,028 new vehicles were registered, of which 42% were cars, 34% SUVs, and 11% pick ups.

Figures from the General Comptroller of Panama indicate that the total number of new vehicles registered in January was 11% lower than in the same month in 2016, when 4,511 vehicles were imported.

In the car segment 1,716 units were recorded, slightly below the figure of 1,944 units registered in January last year. In the case of luxury cars, the entry of 189 units was recorded, also below the 214 recorded in the previous period.

Regarding the figures for January 2016, all segments reported decreases, with vans standing out, falling by 56%.

Vehicles in Panama: Sales Fail to Rebound

October 2018

During the first eight months of 2018, 33,343 new vehicles were registered, 13% less than in the same period of 2017, according to the behavior reported since last year.

The latest figures from the General Comptroller's Office show that from January to August 2018, 11,767 new car-type vehicles were registered, 20% less than the 14,643 units registered in the same period in 2017.

Panama: More Pickup Trucks and Fewer Cars

January 2017

Between January and November 2016 imports of standard and luxury cars fell by 5% and 15% compared to the same period in 2015, respectively, while pickups grew by 20%.

Data from the General Comptroller of the Republic shows that total imports of new vehicles grew by 3.2% in the first eleven months of the year compared to the same period in 2015. 

Panama: Pickups and SUV´s Take Their Turn

August 2016

In the first half of the year registration of vehicles grew by 7%, driven by registrations of SUV vehicles, which grew by 18% and by pickup trucks, which grew by 35%.

Data from the Comptroller General of the Republic showed that in the first half of the year 33,164 vehicles were registered, of which 13,877 were regular cars, 1,424 were luxury cars, 9,568 SUVs and 5,111 pick ups, In addition about 2700 buses, trucks and other vehicles were registered.
