Panama Takes Ecuador Conflict to WTO

The country began the process in response to measures applied by Ecuador to legal, finance and trade services.

This was confirmed by Alberto Vallarino, Economy and Finance minister, in a communication with Commerce and Industry minister Roberto Henríquez.

"A possible action against Ecuador in the World Trade Organization is among the measures included in the national strategy for promoting and protecting Panama's international services", reported newspaper Prensa.com.

Panama Considers Trade Retaliation Against Colombia

The Panamanian government could implement measures against Colombia because of its extension of the tariff on re-exports from the Colon Free Zone.

Roberto Henríquez, Minister of the Presidency of Panama confirmed that Panama is looking at implementing retaliatory measures against Colombia because of the extra tariffs on re-exports of shoes and clothing from the Colon Free Zone (CFZ) tariff.
