Panama: Publicity Investment Up 10.4%

In the first five months of the year publicity investment reached $163.5 million.

The information comes from the country's treasury inspector office and is 10.4% greater than the same period last year.

The total reported equates to all funds invested in publicity via the various communication mediums.

The $36.6 million invested in May was the highest figure recorded.

Panama: Advertising Investment Up 23%

From January to May, $148.1 million were spent in advertising, 23.1% more than the same period of 2008.

The sectors with most growth were Television ads, 26%, and print ads, 18.8%, according to data from the General Comptroller of the Republic.

"Outdoor advertising reported a 37.9% growth, with an expenditure of $8.331.000 in the first five months of the year", published Panamá América in its website.

In January 2009, nearly $23 million were invested, an increase of more than $3 million compared to January 2008.

Data from the General Accounting Office published in an article in prensa.com indicated that advertising investment reached $22.99 million in January 2009, an increase of 17% against the $19.652 million that was invested during the same period in 2008.

Panamanian advertising industry up 8.5% in 2008

Fueled by political activity, Panamanian media generated $309 million in revenue in 2008.

According to the Comptroller's Office, the breakdown was as follows: television first with 61% ($190.5 million), followed by newspapers with 20% ($63.5 million), radio with 7.3% ($22.7 million), magazines with 5.7% ($17.8 million) and outdoor advertising with 4.8% ($14.9 mill).

Investment in advertising in Panama increases 18.8%

January 2009

Advertising investments total $271 million from January to October 2008, or 18.8% more than for the same period in 2007.

According to pa-digital.com.pa, "the biggest investment was in TV publicity at $169.6 million, showing a 23.8% increase, according to preliminary data from the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic.
