Panama Promoted in Spain

The Panamanian Minister of Economy presented investment opportunities in infrastructure projects.

Tuesday, October 26, 2010 reports, "The projects include cleaning the city and the Bay of Panama, the rehabilitation of the network of roads and highways, which have an estimated investment of 1,068 million Euros [approx. $ 1,500 million] and the construction Metro Line 1, which will start in December 2010.

Panama is the preferred destination for Spanish investment in Central America and the Caribbean. In 2008 investment reached $ 4.16 million.

Japan Wants to Invest in Panama

The Japanese Foreign Relations minister stated his country's interest in investing in 4 infrastructure projects.

At a meeting of the chancellors of Japan and Central America, the minister listed the projects: the first metro line, the bay cleanup project, the widening of the Canal and the Panama-Colon Highway.

Honduras: $1 Million In Landslide Prevention

The mayoralty of Tegucigalpa will invest the resources in preventing landslides in the neighborhood of “La Cabaña”.

Mayor Ricardo Alvarez said the funds come from the Government of Japan. The project will channel accumulated water, which causes landslides.

“He regretted that this project was halted last year after a series of landslides.
