Panama: New Presidential Airplane for $17.9 Million

The direct purchase of the aircraft was authorized by the Air Transport Authority, for use in official presidential voyages.

A resolution by the Authority green lights the negotiation of a loan with HSBC Bank to finance the purchase.

"The contract will be signed with U.S. Hawker Beechcraft Corporation, but the specific model is still not known", reports newspaper Panamá América.

Aerolíneas Sosa presented its new plane, the SAP340-B, with capacity for 33 passenger and 3 crew members.

Juan Antonio Sosa, president of the airline, indicated that the SAP340-B will fly from La Ceiba to San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa.

Tiempo.hn quoted Sosa's declarations: "...this millionaire investment aims to modernize our fleet and support the development of the country, specially in La Ceiba, since this institution was born in and grew in this locality."
