Panama Increases Gas Consumption by 14%
From January to August, fuel consumption increased 14.5% over the same period of 2009.

According to the Comptroller General of the Republic, Panama also saw a 49% increase in imports of petroleum products.
In the first half of the year, the oil bill reached $1,798 million, an increase of $490 million compared to the same period in 2010.
Despite increasingly high prices in the first half of 2012 Panamanians consumed 7.6% more fuel compared to the same period last year.
In the first two months of the year, imports totaled $197.1 million, 80.7% more than in the same period of 2010.
Last October Costa Rica consumed 1,356,307 barrels of fuel - a 7% drop from the previous month.
