Panama Hosts World Aquaculture Conference

In June, the country will host the First Global Conference on Aquatic Animal Health.

The conference will bring together more than 178 members of the International Organization for Animal Health (OIE).

Organizers expect... "the presence of international organizations with competence in the area, public and private sector businesses, both domestic and foreign, as well as people interested in aquaculture,” noted pa-digital.com.pa.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) has proposed holding a global conference on 'aquatic health programs: benefits to global food security' in Panama, from 28 to 30 June 2011.

The World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) has declared the country free of classic swine fever.

Since 2006 the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG), the National Service of Agricultural Health (SENASA) and the International Regional Organization for Animal Health (OIRSA) have worked together to eradicate the disease.

Guatemala Hosts Conference on Free Zones

The XV Latin American Conference on Free Zones will be held in Antigua Guatemala, from 26 to 28 October.

One of the points to be discussed at the conference is the new requirements for tax incentives required by the World Trade Organization (WTO), which need to be in place by 2015.

Costa Rica is known worldwide as a country with negligible risk of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), known as "mad cow" disease.
