However, in the last third of the year, the value of approved constructions suffered and fell 20.1% over the same period in 2007.

At the end of 2008, the value of approved constructions and repairs was $1.601 billion vs. $1.348 billion in 2007.
In the first seven months of the year the value of approved construction projects amounted to $918 million, 45.3% more than in the same period last year.
The Department of Planning and Permits received 407 applications in January and February, 52 more than during the same period last year.
In the last few months there has been a drop in the value of construction permits, although the year's accumulated total is still positive.
The value of construction, repair, and extension permits approved during the first half of the year was at $829.8 million.
