There are currently twelve courses operating in the country and two more under construction.
The president of the Panamanian Golf Association said that the country should increase promotion of tourism, creating attractive packages to golf in Panama.
"The growth of the sport has created a demand for skilled labor to give the courses maintenance. It is estimated that for every course you need a minimum of 50 workers, including gardeners and mowing equipment operators," reported Prensa.com.
An environmental impact study has been presented for a development, estimated at $400 million, which consists of 3 hotels, a golf course and 34 residential buildings on the Pacific coast, province of Puntarenas.
The company LAKE HILLE Y A S.A. has submitted to the Environmental Technical Secretariat of Costa Rica (Setena) an Environmental Impact Study to build a resort called "Punta Loros" in a beach touristic area 45 minutes away from San José, located in Tarcoles Garabito de Puntarenas.
$5 million will be invested in developing a golf course in the Honduran touristic project known as “Los Micos Beach and Golf Resort”.
The 18-hole course will be designed by Gary Player, a renowned designer with over 300 golf courses around the globe, and will be funded with resources from the investors behind the group called “Desarrollo Turístico Bahía de Tela”.
The project La Reunion Golf Club, in Antigua, will be inaugurated next March 28, with the opening of its golf course.
The complex covers 1.384 hectares, and will include 950 lots, villas and residences when completed. The project will also include a luxury hotel, an ecological boutique hotel, a spa, an observatory and a cultural center.
