Panama Announces New Developments in Colon

President Ricardo Martinelli announced investments of nearly one billion Dollars in the province.

One of the projects being considered is a new port, which the government would put out to tender.

Panama America published: "the construction of more than 600 houses, repair of 50 residential buildings, a new prison, the Colon Freeway expansion, construction of the airport, a landfill and a new transportation terminal are some of the projects, the president noted."

Taiwan has committed to cooperation programs in infrastructure and security in Guatemala during the visit of Alvaro Colom to the island.

In his report, Colom said that the President of Taiwan, Ma Ying-jeou, confirmed to him that the works on the segund phase of the widening and rehablitaiton of the 80 kilometer highway from the Guatemalan capital to El Rancho, which is being financed by the Taiwanese Government, will begin.
