The Government expects to invite bids for the construction of a coal power plant in 2010.

Panama to Rent Thermal Power Station

December 2009

Egesa, the state-owned electricity company, will rent a 100 MW thermal power station to cover the existing energy deficit.

This deficit was caused by other generation companies, who failed to supply the amount of energy required by contract. These companies will cover the costs of renting this additional plant.
