Panama: 28 Companies Interested in Metro Line 3

Italy's Salini Impregilo, Brazil's Odebrecht, the Chinese firm CHEC and Costa Rica's MECO are the four companies that participated in the field trip to see the route that line 3 will take.

From a statement issued by Metro de Panama:

With a visit to the site where the works of Line 3 of the Metro de Panama will be developed, today saw the start of the pre-selection process of companies eligible to participate in the Best Value Tender with separate evaluation for the construction of this mega project, which will benefit a large population of the province of Panama West.

The visited involved a total of 28 companies, in which representatives were able to observe, on a tour guided by the Project Director of Metro de Panama S.A., Agustín Arias, the route or path of Line 3, as well as areas where the development of future stations might be built, a total of 14 of them.

The aim of this tour is to make bidders aware of local conditions in which the works will be carried out and, simultaneously, to estimate the topography of the route of this third line.

Panama Metro Extension: 15 Companies Interested

Who Wants to Build Line 3 of the Panama Metro?

Nine consortiums from China, Italy, South Korea, Spain, Brazil and Portugal want to be prequalified to design and build Line 3, which has $2.6 billion in financing.

Among the businesses from Europe, Latin America and Asia interested in building the Metro line 2 of Panama are the Spanish company FCC Construcción and the Costa Rican company MECO.

On September 29, the Panama Metro Secretariat toured the proposed route with prospective bidders.
