Panama: Bids Submitted for Long-Term Energy Supply

The Electric Transmission Company (Etesa) has received 38 bids for the tender for the long-term purchase of energy for the period 2014 to 2024.

A press release from ETESA states that:

A total of 38 proposals were submitted for the tender ETESA LPI 03-10 for the long-term purchase of energy, valid for a period of 10 years from June 2014.

According to the Electricity Transmission Company, Inc. (ETESA), 37 bidders participated, who met the criteria for the conditions of the tender.

It is expected that contracts will be awarded for power provision from June 2014 to July 2024 for Edemet, Edechi and ENSA, who are the organizations responsible for distributing electricity to Panamanian households.

The next tender will be ETESA LPI No. 05-11, Long Term 'Energy Only' (for wind generation) for the period 2014 to 2028, and will take place on November 8, 2011.
