Panama: Economic Activity Up 5.3%

In the first two months of the year, the IMAE recorded a variation of 5.3% compared to the same period of 2016, mainly explained by the performance of transport, storage and communications activities.

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Economy and Finance:  

Between January and February 2017, the country's economic activities recorded an increase of 5.23% compared to the same period in 2016, which represents an improvement of 0.93 percentage points, according to the Monthly Index of Economic Activity (IMAE). 

As for the activities that contributed the most to the growth of the country, they were: transportation, storage and communications encouraged by the activities of the Panama Canal. In February, the volume of cargo transited through the inter-oceanic route grew by 26.3%, while toll revenue increased by 17%.

In April, the monthly index of economic activity registered a year-on-year growth of 4.9%, slightly lower than the variation of 5% registered in the same month in 2016.

From a report by the Central Bank of Nicaragua:

In May, the monthly index of economic activity (IMAE) grew by 4.9 percent in relation to May 2016 and similar growth was seen in the average annual variation (4.9%). For its part, growth accumulated in the January-May period was 5.8 percent. [GRAFICA caption = "Click to interact with graphics"]

Honduras: Economic Activity Up by 4.8% up to February 2017

In April, the monthly index of economic activity recorded a year-on-year growth of 4.8%, surpassing the 3.2% registered in the same month of 2016.

From the monthly report by the Central Bank of Honduras:

As of April 2017, domestic production measured through the original series of the IMAE, registered an increase of 4.8% 2 / (3.2% in the same period in 2016). On the other hand, the trajectory of the cycle trend series observed an interannual variation of 5.3% 3 / (2.7% in the same month of 2016), reflecting an upward trend from mid 2016.  [GRAFICA caption = "Click to interact with graphics"]

Costa Rica: Economic Activity Grows 3.9% up to February 2017

47% of the economic activities in the group have tended to reduce their rate of growth not only in inter annual terms, but also in term of growth in 2016.

From a statement issued by the Central Bank of Costa Rica:

The first two months of this year, the cumulative rate of the trend cycle of the monthly index of economic activity  (MIEA)  achieved growth of 4.2%; down by 0.8 percentage points (pp) over the same period in 2016. For its part; the year on year rate reached 3.9% (5.4% FEB 2016), a rate which has decelerated from December. [GRAFICA caption = "Click to interact with graphics"]

Panama: Economic Situation - First half 2015

The Monthly Index of Economic Activity in the first half of the year increased by 4% compared to the same period in 2014.

From a statement issued by the General Comptroller of the Republic:

The Monthly Economic Activity Index (IMAE) in the Republic for January-July 2015, measured in terms of the original series in 1996 prices, grew by 4.02 percent compared to the same period in 2014.
