Panama: $59 million for Hemodialysis

The Social Security Fund will be able to extend the contract for hemodialysis services and ensure coverage until October 2018.

The Cabinet Council has authorized the Social Security Fund (CSS) to make an addendum to the contract for the hemodialysis service, in order to guarantee the service until October next year.

The director of the CSS explained to Prensa.com that "... more than a year ago an attempt was made to launch a tender among the companies that offer the service, but a series of situations occurred that forced this act to not be held."

The Cabinet Council of Panama has approved a contract between the Social Security Institute (CSS) and IBT Group Consortium, for the supply of hemodialysis equipment and services.

A statement from the Presidency of Panama reads:

The Cabinet Council issued a favorable response to the contract between the Social Security Department (CSS) and the Consortium IBT Medical Outsourcing Services for the supply and installation of equipment, supplies of materials, operation of hemodialysis units, design, adaptation of physical space and / or construction of infrastructure - both inside and out of the hospital – for the care of patients with kidney problems.
