Businessman Roberto Alfaro told newspaper Prensa.com: "The advantage of owning a franchise is that you can start right away, as everything is already done. When a business of this kind is started, the owner of the franchise provides procedure, quality and health manuals, among other, making operation easier".
The National Franchise Centre will promote new businesses and advise international franchises on how to set up in Costa Rica.
According to Karol Fallas, coordinator of the franchise process at the Chamber of Commerce, the National Center's goal is give continuity to the Franchising project currently being developed with funding from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and which ends this year.
The growth and positioning of franchises in Costa Rica is encouraging more entrepreneurs to opt for this alternative.
The franchise model under which a company sells another company the use of its trademark and business concept, and which must be operated according to certain characteristics identified by the trademark owner, has gained strength in the country in recent years.
