Oil Exploration Platform Reaches Nicaragua

The British company Noble Energy has now set up in Caribbean waters a drilling rig for oil exploration.

The information was confirmed by Rosario Murillo, coordinator of the Nicaraguan Communication Council. On Monday the drilling rig Oceam Saratoga belonging to the Noble Energy Company Ltd ,arrived.

According to Murillo, the platform will be located on the site of Paraíso Sur pit (PS1), 168 kilometers from the city of Bluefields, capital of the South Atlantic Autonomous Region (RAAS) and exploration is estimated to last 90 days.

"... The goal of the exploration is to check for the existence of structures for the exploitation of hydrocarbons and, if confirmed, we will proceed to drilling a second well for finding commercial capacity," noted an article in Nicaraguahoy.info .
