Offers Received for Two Infrastructure Projects in Panama

Six companies have submitted bids for highway infrastructure works worth $75.5 million in the province of Los Santos, south west of the Panamanian capital.

The six companies were, Consorcio Benito Roggio Panamá S.A., Globetec Panamá S.A., Constructora Santa Fe, Hidalgo & Hidalgo S.A., Constructora Meco S.A., and Constructora Urbana S.A.

The offers received varied between $67.9 and $76.98 million.

"The project consists of renewing roads and constructing bridges on several routes in the Los Santos province located south west of Panama City on the Azuero peninsula.

The participating companies are:

• Santa Fe Construction Ltd., who offered to do the work for $62, 66 million.

Argentinean construction company Benito Roggio won a contract to build the Divisa-Chitré highway in the province of Herrera.

The evaluation committee took into consideration technical specifications, experience, responsibility and reasonable pricing. Roggio’s bid was priced at $109.9 million.

Five companies submitted their bids for widening the road between Divisa and Chitré.

They are “Constructora Meco”, “CC Construcciones de Centro América S.A.”, “Consorcio Benito Roggio Panamá S.A.- Benito Roggio e Hijos S.A”, “Constructora Urbana S.A.” and “Hidalgo e Hidalgo S.A.”. The lowest priced bid was presented by Hidalgo and Hidalgo S.A., at little under $104 million.

Panama: 18 Builders Interested in David-Boquete Highway

18 construction companies have declared their interest in participating in the public bidding process on April 26, 2010.

These include Constructora Urbana S.A. (CUSA), Norberto Odebrecht, Santa Fe and Constructora ICA.

Works comprise rehabilitating the entire highway and widening the road to 4 lanes between Porras and Los Algarrobos.
