Nicaraguan Exports to Europe drop

Fruit and vegetable exports were $4.5 million in 2007, but this year they were only $1.9 million.

Roberto Brenes, Executive Director of CEI, said that the institution will offer farmers mechanism and tools that will allow them to have need knowledge in order to enter the European Market.

The official added that in 2007 Nicaragua exported $180 million in various products to Europe, and that so far this year the figure is at $151 million.

Guatemala Exports to Europe Down 9%

November 2012

The economic crisis and low prices are the reasons for the drop in Guatemalan exports to Europe which up to September closed at a low of 9.1% compared to the previous year.

According to the Bank of Guatemala (Banguat) total exports to Europe, in September 2012, amounted to $492.8 million compared to the $542.2 million in the same period of 2011.

Guatemalan Exports to Europe Fall 10.5%

Sales to Europe are down 10.5% from $249.2 million up to April of 2011 to $222.9 million up to the same month in 2012.

The biggest drop was recorded in exports to Spain with a decrease of 49.3%, followed by Italy with a decrease of 25.8%, and Germany with 8.4%.

As of April 2012, total exports according to figures from the Bank of Guatemala, totalled $3,592,000.

Nicaraguan Exports Fall by 17.8%

March 2009

Foreign sales were down by 17.8% in volume and 10.4% in value in February.

El Nuevo Diario published on its website: In February 2008, exports were $144 million, while the amount reported was $130 million during the same period this year, according to CETREX (The Center for Export Procedures) figures.

Nicaraguan exports dropped in January

There was a reduction of more than $36 million in foreign sales in January 2009, in comparison to the same month last year.

Gustavo Alvarez says in an article on EL NUEVO DIARIO.com: "The growth rate for exports, which in the last few years had a sustained growth of around 20%, started the year with a 27.9% drop.
