Nicaragua Relaunches Granada as a Tourist Destination

The natural revitalization in preserved areas such as Mombacho Volcano, Granada islets and the archaeological park on Zapatera Island are part of the recovery plan.

From a press release issued by the Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism (Intur):

Through means of more than fifty of activities to be held this year, INTUR will be united with tourism businesses, the Alcaldías del Poder Ciudadano de Granada, as well as other government institutions, as part of the relaunch of Granada as a tourism destination.

Maria Victoria Martinez, a delegate from INTUR in the department of Granada said during the meeting of the relaunch that some of these activities are a result of joint municipal tourism plans, with a focus on shared responsibilities from local governments, INTUR, and the family, community and life for tourism cabinets, taking into account the criteria of sustainability tourism products. Other actions to be performed is carrying out the revitalization of natural reserve areas such as the Mombacho Volcano, Granada islets and the archaeological park Zapatera

Nicaragua Begins Tourism Promotion Campaign

The international and local campaign that the tourism authorities has started running includes, among other things, advertising spots on board United Airlines flights.

Representatives of the Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism (Intur) reported that the market segments that will be promoted are low-density sun, beach, adventure or active tourism, nature, culture and identity tourism, rural community tourism, agrotourism and ecotourism and gastronomy.  It also includes business tourism, wellness, cruises and nautical tourism.

Tourism Continues to Grow in Nicaragua

Between January and September, 965,369 tourists arrived in the country, 7.1% more than in the same period in 2013.  

From a statement issued by the investment promotion agency of Nicaragua:

Nicaragua: Tourism Up 10%

In the first half of the year $218 million came into the country, 10.3% more than the $197.5 million generated in the same period in 2013.

Details from the Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism (Intur) show that "... Between January and June Nicaragua received 650,008 foreign visitors, representing a growth of 7.1% compared to the same period in 2013, when the country received 607.155 tourists. "

Nicaragua: Preparations for Fenitur Tourism Fair 2014

On 25 and 26 April 2014 the fifth edition of the International Tourism Fair will be held in the Crowne Plaza Convention Center.

Enrollment is now open for local tour operators who wish to participate in the event. The National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) and the Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism (Intur) are the entities organizing the fair.
