Nicaragua Electricity Distributors Merge

Distribuidora del Sur will hand over its concession area to Distribuidora del Norte in order to centralize operations and stabilize its finances.

Tuesday, October 8, 2013

This was announced by the power distributor Melfosur TSK through an advertisement in a newspaper in Nicaragua. " The notice , signed by Antonio Palomares Hernandez in his role as legal representative of the two distributors, says only that Distribuidora del Sur ( Dissur ) has renounced its concession and transferred it to Distribuidora del Norte ( Disnorte ) ", reported Laprensa.com.ni.

Presumably Dissur was nearly bankrupt while Disnorte registered total solvency of its finances.

" This is simple . One company was profitable . The other was not. So now everything is being consolidated into one company . Before there were two , now there is only one . This means that their financial statements will look healthier," said a source connected to the electricity generation system .
