Nicaragua: $130 million for Electricity Works and Roadworks

The IDB is providing $40 million in financing for construction of power substations in the north and $90 million for renovation of roads in Jinotega and Chontales.

From a statement issued by the National Assembly of Nicaragua:

$40 million for electrical substations

A $40 million loan signed with the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) was approved on February 16 by the plenary, which will be used to fund the construction of three new substations.

The funding will be aimed at electrical substations to be built and expanded in the north Pacific and Midwest.

Several infrastructure projects cannot be started until the Legislative Assembly approves a $850 million loan from the IDB and a $52 million one from CAF.

These projects are the highway to Heredia, the new road to San Carlos, the link between Bajos de Chilamate-Vuelta Kooper, concluding the northern Ring Road (Circunvalación) and enlarging the Florencio del Castillo Highway.

IDB Loans $110 Million for Panamanian Infrastructure

The credit line by the Inter-American Development Bank will be used for rural infrastructure and aqueducts.

$70 million have been earmarked for widening the highway Divisa – Las Tablas, rural roads and upkeep.

“$40 million will be used to strengthen the National Aqueduct and Sewers Institute, expand drinkable water coverage and improving sewers”, reported Prensa.com.

IDB Finances Projects for $200 Million in Nicaragua

The Inter-American Development Bank is financing infrastructure and electric power projects in the country.

Mirna Lievano, IDB spokesperson in the country, highlighted the construction of highway Acoyapa - San Carlos and the upkeep of rural roads across the country.

From local newspaper Elnuevodiario.com: "Regarding renewable energy generation, she expressed that IDB has designed a medium term strategy, which focuses initially on energy transmission, and then on renewing hydroelectric power plants, such as 'Santa Bárbara' and 'Centroamérica'".
