The Games board reviewed four new request for the opening and operating of new casinos.

Dialogo reports: "The casinos include the following projects: Ice Towers, the Ocean Trump Plaza Hotel belonging to billionaire Donald Trump, and Los Faros de Panama which belongs to the Spanish group, Moll.

Currently there are 15 casinos operating in Panama, and we expect that very soon we will have good news about the opening of these new Casinos and to have more live poker which is lacking."

Nicaragua: Casino Law in December

The new law creates a regulatory framework for casinos, game houses and slot machines and will come into force in December.

Law 766 was passed last May and published in the official gazette in July, and the Nicaraguan Tourism Institute (Intur) will be responsible for its implementation.

Taxes on Gambling in Costa Rica

The bill to regulate activities of casinos and electronic gambling venues will decide taxes based on the number of tables, machines or personnel involved.

The new text approved by the Financial Affairs Committee sets a tax of $300 per table for establishments that operate a maximum of 10 hours daily and $500 for those over 10 hours.

TCS John Huxley begins operations in Costa Rica

The firm, which designs systems for casinos and equipment for gaming establishments, will establish a sales office for Latin America.

In the medium term, the company has plans to establish a plant in Costa Rica to fabricate the machines and products locally.
TCS John Huxley has been in the market of 30 years and is headquartered in London. It has 250 employees.

Costa Rica casinos to follow new rules

Costa Rica doesn’t want to become a gaming detsination like Las Vegas. New laws have been passed in Costa Rica that will change the way that many of the casinos will be run and ultimately prevent new casinos being built in Costa Rica as casinos begin to limit their operations in line with these rules.

Existing hotels with casinos and stand alone casinos must regulate their hours from 6pm until 2am from the current 24 hour operations many of them use right now. Many casinos in Costa Rica offer free alcohol to their customers however this must also come to a stop as well as restricting access for minors. The government has handed these businesses a 6 month deadline to bring these changes into effect.
