New bidding process for the La Libertad Port in El Salvador

The Salvadoran Corporation of Tourism (CORSATUR) will open for tender the construction of the second phase for the third time.

Sunday, May 4, 2008

The bidding for the construction of the tourist pier at the La Libertad Port was declared null and void for the second time.
Tourism Minister, Rubén Rochi, clarified that this was not due to the lack of bidders, but because the sole bidder in the process did not meet the established financial requirements.
In this case, says Rochi, the Law of Bidding and Contracts (LACAP) supports not having a third bidding process and instead carrying out the works by direct contract. Nonetheless, it was decided to try a third bidding process "to ensure transparency," the minister pointed out.
