New U.S. Rules on Packaging
Starting January 2012 nutrition labeling of single-ingredient foods such as ground meat and poultry will be required.

On December 29, 2010, the Food, Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has changed regulations on meat and poultry products. The changes will come into effect on the 1st of January 2012.
Poultry producers are awaiting the arrival in September of safety inspectors from the USA to complete the process and obtain a final certification to export chicken meat.
A report states that three poultry companies in Honduras are requesting permission to sell eggs in neighboring countries.
Despite the signing of the FTA, the Central American poultry sector has not seen increased imports into the U.S.
In 2012 there was increases of 5.8% in the production of chicken meat and 1.59% in egg production.
