The company is planning the opening of fifteen new customer service points in the country.

Among openings planned for December is the recent opening of the Zentro Plaza agency. It is the largest and most modern in Guatemala, with 900 square meters on two levels.

"... Tigo said that major innovations at the new agency include a complete floor to cater VIP corporate clients, a training center for customers and two drive-thru payment facilities," informs It Now.

The Cell Phone Market in El Salvador

A survey entitled Hogares 2012 has revealed that 90.53% of Salvadoran households have a cell phone, spending at least $10.53 a month on mobile phone communication.

This percentage is 2.08% higher than in 2011 when it 88.45% of the population possessed a cell phone. The survey reveals that mobile spending shows growth, going from $9.72 per month in 2011 to $10.53 in 2012.

Guatemala: Cell Phone Use Grows by 6.7%

During 2012, mobile telephony saw a total of almost 21 million users, an increase of 6.7% compared to 2011.

According to statistics from the Superintendency of Telecommunications (SIT) in the past 9 years, mobile telephony has grown by 556%.

In 2003, Guatemala had more than three million subscribers, however, the figures indicate that as of 2009 the market stagnated and growth per year reduced to a million customers.

Forced to compete in the tough telecommunications market without the perks that a monopoly grants, the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad has begun to manage itself better.

An institution that previously was reluctant to change and to opening up to private competition in telecommunications, is now being forced to reduce travel expenses and overtime and granting wage increases similar to those authorized for the central government and other public sector entities , in order not to close with its books in red in 2012.

BlackBerry Will Open 9 Stores in Panama

Six new stores in different shopping malls of the country will be opened, in addition to three inaugurated in August.

The stores are exclusively focused on selling BlackBerry accessories, applications and terminals.

Maria Samaniego, Digicel's marketing director, said that "in the last 9 months, the company has sold 7.500 BlackBerry units", reported newspaper Laestrella.com.pa.
