Importers and distributors of motorcycles explained that the increase is due, among other factors, to increased demand from market segments that up till now have not traditionally bought these types of vehicles.

Nacion.com reports that "... The ability to move faster through traffic, fuel costs that are affordable for many, are part of the reasons for this significant growth in demand, according to businessmen. "

"... Victor Masís, corporate director of United Motors, explained that in the past bikes were used a lot by messengers. But now, new users have come on the scene, such as managers of companies who use them midweek to move around more easily and women who do no longer only driving low cylinder capacity bikes, but are now looking for higher ones.
