More Competition for Mangos in U.S.

The Philippines have now received phytosanitary permits to export fresh mangoes to the United States from other regions in the country.

From a press release issued by the Costa Rican Foreign Trade Promotion Office:

The Philippines intends to increase mango exports to the U.S.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has permitted only the export of Philippine mangoes from the Guimaras Island, an island province in the Western Visayas region. However, the Philippines could soon send this market fresh mangoes produced in other parts of the country, as stated by Agriculture Secretary, Proceso Alcala.

Alcala explained that accreditation for the export of Philippine mangoes is expanding to include other producing regions. It also adds that the sanitary and phytosanitary requirements for export and have been approved by the USDA. Therefore, the Philippines is only waiting for this department to complete other regulatory requirements.
