Mexican Airline Suspends Ticket Sale

The carrier has announced that it will continue to fly, in order to protect passengers that already have tickets and scheduled flight itineraries.

The Mexican Airline, Mexicana (CMA), has announced that it has filed a request to initiate bankruptcy proceedings with Mexico City's district judge, as well as a request for the proceedings to be authorized by a New York court.

The company has begun a reorganization process in conjunction with the pilot and flight attendant unions.

The airline published the following details on its website:
■ CMA continues to operate normally, pursuant to Mexican legislation.
■ Domestic flights are operated by Click and Link, CMA's independent sister airlines, and are not affected by this process. There are no changes to domestic flights.

1. I’m booked on a Mexicana flight. Are there any changes?
On Wednesday, August 4, at 18:00 hours, Mexicana Airlines (Compañía Mexicana de Aviación) suspended its ticket sales. However, Mexicana Airlines announced it will continue operations as scheduled in the interest of protecting passengers whom already have tickets and flight itineraries.

There are no changes in MexicanaClick nor MexicanaLink. Both are independent airlines, unaffected by CMA's business reorganization.

2. I am flying in from abroad with another airline and have a connecting flight with Mexicana. Can I expect any changes?
No, all domestic and international flights continue to operate as scheduled and itineraries remain unchanged.

3. Can I still book flights?
MexicanaClick and MexicanaLink continue to operate, market and sell tickets for all of their flights.
Reservation and issuing of tickets for flights operated by Mexicana Airlines (CMA) have been suspended indefinitely. However, Mexicana Airlines (CMA) will continue flying in the interest of protecting passengers who already have tickets and flight itineraries.

The Salvadoran Civil Aviation Authority has temporarily suspended its operating permit and granted it a period of 90 days to decide whether or not to stay in the aviation market.

The company must decide its future in a maximum period of three months, as established by the Civil Aviation Authority of El Salvador. Its executive director, Jorge Puquirre, told Elmundo.sv that   "... Another Airline to Fly between Costa Rica and Mexico

The new daily flight by Mexican company Interjet between the two capitals will increase competition and will certainly contribute to reasonable rates being applied on this route.

The Mexican low-cost online Interjet aims to fly once a day between Mexico City and San Jose, Costa Rica, with an Airbus A320 craft for 150 passengers.

Mexicana Cancels Flight to Costa Rica

The airline has suspended the flight covering the San José - Cancún route until further notice.

The company has announced that one of its San José - Mexico flights has been suspended leaving just one flight at 7:15am from Costa Rica.
